I did a master copy of one of Frank Frazetta's oil paintings and am convinced that those colors are not in my PS color picker lol, what an amazing artist.

Week Eleven Topic 4-26-10 to 5-2-2010

I was gonna suggest everyone take a break this week but by the number of people that posted last week it seems that everyone already took a break. So this week is dedicated to the foundations....I was inspired by the Marshall Vandruff Workshop and how much he stressed the foundations. So this week is purley academic and the topic is....

"Master Copies" you may pick any old or contempary master and do a copy of thier drawing, painting or sculpture in you post please explain your choices and the break down the the composition at much as possible. Oh yeah try to work digitial....even if you are copying a master painting and try to color match with your eyes not the eye dropper if possioble. This is a great excericise and that is what this blog is about.

OK Here is the Deal...

I figure that everyone is busy or enviroments are not favorable with all...thanks to those who posted this week. I took the liberty of allowing my six year old daughter to do one...well she practically begged me and since no one else is posting I figured what the hay....any way here you go. My piece did not come out as successful as hers but it was a repaint of an older piece that I thought fit the theme....

WEEK 10 Topic 4-19-10 to 4-26-10

Well I have to say we did not solve anything in the battle for supremacy between Ninjas n Pirates...I declare it a draw...no pun intended!!

This Weeks topic is a little different I want everyone to take a stab at an enviroments, I dont want to give too much direction so you can get as creative as you would like, the topic is "Hidden Kingdoms"

It can be a lost kingdom or any literal or fictious place as long as you can justify it with in the context of the topic. In the future there will be other enviroment assignments with more direction but I wanted to keep this first one loose and see what you guys come up with this week. So there is a lot left for interpetation. Good luck

A Pirate's Life for Me!

Obviously Pirate's have it better. Who wouldn't want to be a pirate! Stealing, Stabbing people, Booze, and Breasts. What more could you ask for. and what do Ninjas have? A lot of tough training and scar covered shirtless men....? Not really a hard decision.

I'm in the process of coloring it, I just wanted to post this before I ran out of time.

Sorry for not having any color, homework is starting to pile up. Was watching Romeo and Juliet in my Literature class, and this topic certainly felt like it needed some love. Why can't these pirates and ninjas have peace?

Those ninjas are too sneaky for them pirates. I'm not sure how this reads so I need input on how to make it more readable without the use of color. I'm relying heavily on value with this one.

so here is an update... I dont know if I am going to keep the blood...


o.k. so for this week, I am working on a piece that illustrates what happens when ninjas and pirates meet... it is in its early stages... and even though I set it up, something is not jiving right... so i thought I'd post what I had in its raw unfinished form so that you could all be afforded a chance to give your input... I like the idea of telling it in two images, the before and after... first the pirates celebrate stealing the ninja pipe, but then the ninja takes it back along with their lives....

as you can see, I am just bleeding the detail in from one corner... I got to the captain and gave him a bit more attention, I plan to just chugga chugga the rest of this but I thought before I went further that I'd ask for your opinions... fire away!

Alright so here is the deal this week's topic hopefully will shed some light on one of the most profound questions of our generation......who is more cool the Ninjas or the Pirates? This weeks topic is Ninjas vs Pirates? Your post will help to determine who will remain victorious. If you are not feeling oneside vs the other you may choose to illustrate one subject, but remeber allof you collectivley have a chance to answer the eternal question and who will reign supreme, the swift vs the swashbuckler?

I was inspired by the bio-luminous creatures of the deep...so here is a quickie of an elephant jelly fish...what if the animals in the deep took on animal like features from the land forms....just a quick idea I had.

WEEK 8 Topic 4-5-10 to 4-12-10

Well this wet weather got me thinking of this weeks topic. the topic is "In the deepest depths of the ocean" You can explore ocean animals invented or existing, underwater sub stations, or falling kindgoms like atlantis try to capture the mood of deep and use you imagination. The ocean is like another universe here on this planet still up for exploration. There are great reference images out there online if anyone knows a good site for inspiration post it in the comments section of this post.


On another note I have been gettign alot of requests to post the topics so if you have an idea email me @ tbrillante@verizon.net
I cannot garantee you we will use it but I will try this is just a good way to try to accomidate everyone!
