Scarecrow

I spent many many minutes staring at our kitchen trying to get inspired. I liked the look of our microwave and went from there. On the back there is the grating where the fan blows out. That's what caught my eye the most. I also incorporated the boxy shape and the smooth surface. I doodled the first rough while lying in bed. I cleaned it up through tracing then trace inked it with a micron on tracing paper. I colored in photoshop using the beautiful multiply layers and the regular old default brush.

  1. I have to say, first off, it reminds me of Wall-E, lol. Also, I love the effort you put in your process. Your stuff always comes out great, so I'd have to say all the steps you take surely pay off. You did a great job incorporating everything into the character.

  2. i was trying to look closer but my internet fails. but i like that solid color look you have on some areas, it's like an animation cel, pretty cool :] so he's a futuristic scarecrow then? it would be cool to see where he would would be placed, i wonder what kind of vegetation he would look after, and what would the crows look like! :P

  3. I have consistantly had problems with posting so that the image can be enlarged. I'll try it again. Vegetation and crows are a mystery to me at this point as well. I'll look into it.
