Franky's monster

Franky's monster portrait. I tried to recreate the classic in watercolor since this week's exercise includes using other mediums.

The Mummy

I based this on the Boris Karloff version of the character. The one aspect of his version that I really love is the great texture of his flesh. I wanted to capture that aspect. Colors were added in PS. Oh, and I fixed my Batman Goes Punk image. You can now enlarge the picture.

I plan on doing some digital painting with this but wanted to get some feedback on the ones that are already there and which one you think has the most potential :)

WEEK 23

Vintage Horror Monsters......this is a throw back to the classics.....Swamp thing, draccula, Franskenstien, the fly, creature from the black lagoon, wolfman, etc.....please try to stay within the theme of Vintage monsters....if you modernize them please explain (in a comment on your post) your design choices. I would encourage you to explore different mediums and try to capture the feel for the genre monsters you are illustrating.

Have fun and encourage and inspire a friend to draw and design.

This week's topic is quite a challenge for me but I imagine heaven to be a color place so here my own piece of heaven.

This topic is probably gonna have a part two attached to it. It was suggested by one of our participants that we do an interpretation of what Heaven would look like....this could be spiritually...metaphorically.... utopia...or puffy clouds....it is all open game since we have no real reference to look at....one thing please make it epic and in the next week or two there may be a glimpse into hell as the part two of this topic.

SO try to stray from the negative in this one there will be an opportunity to address the other side of the spectrum in the weeks to follow.....so have fun and remember.....skies the limit....see you in the after life :)

Looking for my Locus[t]

Here it is. Those with a strong internal locus of control believe their actions and choices determine the events in their life. An individuals internal locus of control helps them to be more in control of their behaviors and actions. These ideas run parallel to other beliefs in other forms. The locust is symbolic of moving forward, willing to take risks. A locust does not jump backward.
I've been focusing a lot of my attention on how I can be in control of my life the last two and a half years. It is difficult learning to re-condition my mind. This has been hard, but I am seeing progress. I am moving closer to being in control of my thoughts, my feelings and my actions. Within this process I am finding that I am more confident in myself artistically and the direction that I am heading in.

Genetic experiment gone horribly wrong, so what does a genetically altered super bug eat.....anything it wants!!

used a sculpted head I had, and made the bugs out of zspheres in z-brush, along with the hills in the back. Photo bashed that biohazard sign, and everything else was done in PS.

Crits are most welcome, Ill try and revise

Week 21

Alright I totally lagged it this week it was too much fun with the holiday and all the crazy BBQs....Adam suggested a great topic but I am going to save that one for next week because I want everyone to have enough time. So with that being said this weeks topic is.....
creepy, crawling, stinging, buzzing, smelly, flying, swimming, hopping, slimy, metamorphing...Insects....I would like to see your own designs.
Try to think about the bugs enviroment and everything it eats or what eats it!
Also if you have a Batman before the first post of this topic goes up feel free to still post it.

Batman Goes Punk

Here it is. I included my process as well. I started with a rough gesture sketch. Bringing it into photoshop I refined the pose then printed it out. I then cleaned it up with my trusty blue pencil. After this I traced it onto some cardstock and inked it. I painted it in photoshop.
