Monster

I started sketching for this project and my wife, looking over my shoulder, said that I always do such dark stuff. So I thought I'd try something cute and pleasant. (I just reposted the image. It will show a full size image now when you click on it.)

  1. lol. Love the shape of the monster. Tom this is a good example of what I meant about distorting the perspective lines to have a more cartoony feel(In case you didn't understand what I meant).

Only thing I'm iffy on is the shadows of the figure(Specifically where it starts on the leg, I'm fine with how it looks like on the wall). Perhaps if you could clean that up cause it reminds me of a filter effect if you know what I mean?

  2. I love it dude. Instantly made me laugh. My only criticism is that the monster seems to be rendered more then mostly everything else. I don't know if this was on purpose to add to a focal area, but it stuck out to me. But other than that I would love to see this animated...there is enough story here to merit a short.

  3. Hey dustin like the style and colors of this piece alot, only thing bugging me is the sharpness in the door. Great work

  4. I like this one Dustin....cannot offer crits other than some of the ones you got....maybe just increasing the size of the frame in the back of the monster to add more contrast it seems that my eye keeps resting there.

  6. This is a really fun piece. From the colors you chose to the meatiness of the monster, it all has a very nice, sophisticated storybook feel. Instantly made me laugh. The only nit-picky thing I can say is that the door is a little sharp and has some harsh lines, so it kind of pulls some attention away from the focus.
