I had a much larger piece planed, but I tried piecing it together and it turned out, well, piece-y. Blame Greg for the concept, he jokingly thought it would be funny for me to do something epic about figure modeling.
LOL, i like it, kinda looks like your made of stone. It certainly takes me back to the Hampton class days. I think the only really noticeable issues are with both your forearms, otherwise looks great. You could also probably take it in photoshop and push the value too. Nice one.
really like the way you manipulated the soft and hard edges to achieve that 3 dimensional feel in the face and chest. I agree with keh about the arms seeming a little akward, Id say the wrists and forearms are the main culprit. The overall proportions seem to work well though, Id consider looking into redesigning the negative shape in the left armpit. also the way you've placed the lighting it looks as though that staff might cast a shadow on the left leg. Also a cast shadow of the figure itself might elevate the thought that the figure might be floating. Strong anatomy study, I like it.
I would have liked to see the curves in the arms alittle more suttle so it looks stylized not impossible. It is a nice technically its just the Arms wrists hands and clavicles present a problem.
Overall, it is a nice drawing. But, pay attention to the anatomy. There is certain "extra" muscles happening in his hip and his right biceps. Also, I agree with Thomas about the curve on his hand.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I gave it a stylization in the arms to give it funky curves. Thought it was interesting.

ReplyDeleteInteresting design! Although the left hand seems a little forced... or uncomfortable - sorry not sure if that makes sense...
